Crafts + Organization = Happy Stampers!
Jan 11th 2012, 10:01

Crafting is so much fun and is meant to be something that de-stresses your life. But if your crafts are disorganized, scrapbooking and rubber stamping can become stressful endeavors rather than the fun hobby they are meant to be. Organization makes all the difference! Rubber stamps are the backbone of card making and scrapbooking. But you need to know what stamps you have, and how to find them quickly and easily. There are 3 basic systems for stamp organization: 1. Alphabetically 2. Number system 3. Category There is not a one-size-fits-all organizational system. You need to have a system that works for YOU. So let’s look at each system. 1. Alphabetical: This is a great system as it’s quick and easy to find things. In addition, we are used to looking for other things alphabetically. The major drawback to this system is that you have to really know the names of your stamp sets. If you’re good with names, this is the system for you! 2. Number system: For this system, you simply affix a number to your stamp sets and keep a list, sort of like a library system where each book has a number. You can simply number your sets in the order you purchase them or make a more specific system where nature sets begin with a 1, greetings sets begin with a 2, etc. This is a great system for the very organized people out there. God bless you all! 3. Category: For this system, you organize your stamps according to the category they are listed under in the Idea Book & Catalog. So all the Holiday stamps go in one spot, the Occasions stamps go in another, etc. This is the system I use, and it really helps me. In addition to keeping my stamps straight, it helps me orient to the catalog. Since I use my catalog a lot, not only for helping people place orders but also for my own design inspiration, I feel that I kill two birds with one stone. Whatever stamp organization system you choose, get one going. When you can find what you are looking for, creating hand stamped projects is much more fun. Stamping is meant to be a time of creativity and enjoyment, not frustration. So organize your stamps and you will be stamping stress-free! I’ve given you ways to organize your rubber stamps, but don’t stop there! You can organize your embellishments, ribbons, and more. And the more organized your supplies are, the more you will create, and the more fun you will have in the creative process. There are the spools, and then there are the scraps… You can organize your ribbons in purpose-made shelves for easy access. But then there are those little scraps. You know, the pieces you cut for a project and then didn’t use. I like to store my scraps and pieces in a ribbon “jar.” I call it a jar, but it’s actually a vase, because I don’t want to have to open a lid when I’m looking for/grabbing a piece of ribbon. Remember, you want your organization to work FOR you not against you. You want it to SAVE time not cost you time. Ribbon is my go-to embellishment. It adds the perfect touch to most any project. I use ribbon on my hand-stamped cards, scrapbook pages, handmade gifts, and more. Of course, they also make for extra-special packaging. When wrapping up a gift, even a small or inexpensive one, I like to make it extra special with nice wrapping or even just some nice ribbon. Stampin’ Up! ribbon comes in all our core colors as well as “in” colors (trendy colors that keep everything fresh) and is very, very nice quality. I like wrap a stack of hand-stamped cards in a generous length of ribbon for gifting. Super simple, super easy, extra special!

Urine Therapy – A Yeast Infection Cure?
Jan 11th 2012, 11:26

Can drinking your own urine help you fight off disease and cure your yeast infections? Let’s take a closer look at what the potential benefits of urine therapy are and a look at why we get yeast infections and you can be the judge.

Urine therapy is a bit of a controversial subject so you need to make your own decisions about whether or not you’re willing to try drinking it or not but in terms of history, you can see from many online sources that urine therapy has been used in many cultures around the world for various reasons.

Candida and Your Immune System

Candida, also known as yeast infection, is caused by many reasons but one of the biggest reasons is that your immune system is low so your body’s flora balance goes off kilter. Our bodies are filled with positive and negative flora and when the negative bacteria get overgrown we become ill. Candida albicans bacteria, when it surpasses certain levels in the body becomes a nuisance and causes yeast infections which can manifest themselves in many ways such as vaginal yeast infections, penile infections, oral thrush, skin rashes and other problems in the body. There’s a laundry list of symptoms associated with candida that you might not even be fully aware of. IT’s more than just a vaginal discharge with itchiness.

Back to UT, or urine therapy….

In UT, you consume your own (not anyone else’s) urine. The body rids itself daily of many substances but urine is not dirty. In fact, it’s sterile and contains many elements including vitamins, minerals and healthy substances filtered from the blood. Your body excretes what it doesn’t need to use and in terms of filtering the blood, excretes hormones and minerals and things that can be beneficial to the body if you needed it at that time.

In the cultures where the urine was consumed, it helped many issues and there are claims it can help with Parkinson’s disease symptoms, with Cancer, with the Aids virus, with hair loss, scurvy, conjunctivitis, yeast infections and more.

Drinking Urine and Using It Topically

Not only do some holistic healers suggest that drinking your urine can help your immune system receive a boost but that using it topically can help with candida symptoms also. You can help with rashes on the body, itchiness and irritation and in the mouth you can rinse with it to achieve an effect similar to antibiotics.

A lot of people are repulsed by this idea but there are many recommendations that suggest that you can slowly begin using this practice by diluting the urine or mixing it with something else before consuming it. It can be a mind over matter thing that you can overcome once you see the associated health benefits.

Are You Interested In Trying UT?

Is urine therapy the way you should fight candida? Only you can decide but there is a lot of information available that suggests this might be a therapy worth trying.

Computer Repair – What’s Wrong With My Computer?
Jan 11th 2012, 12:23

The top problems that most PCs have when they stop working properly are security/protection related. Windows ( particularly Vista ) has a heap of security settings that can often go overboard trying to protect you from viruses and spyware. Then after that, the majority of problems are a blown power supply, Windows is corrupt, or the computer simply going slow or slowing down. Some points about computer repair - 1) Check to make sure all the Windows updates have been done. This includes the latest service pack release ( a service pack basically irons out the bugs after Microsoft identifies an issue with the Operating System ).. 2) Make sure that you’re not using AVG or Avast ( both freeware ). These only cover you for a small number of the problems that are already out there. Imagine it like this – you buy a new car and have the option to take out free car insurance that covers you for everything except for an accident. By not having the correct internet security you’re putting yourself at risk to lose your valuable data, photos etc. Also there’s a risk of fraud – online banking, identity theft and other issues that are out there. 3) There are millions of viruses that cause a heap of different problems. A virus is a bit of information that’s designed to cause damage to the information that’s on your computer, similar to cancer in a human. Sometimes if it can be caught early it can be fixed, but on some occasions its too late, and the computer will need to be re-formatted and the software re-installed. 4) The computer won’t turn on at all. This could be due to a power supply fault or a surge that’s blown a component in the computer, like the motherboard. 5) Sometimes computers don’t work properly due to a hardware fault, and your screen will just go blue. It may not be software related at all and that’s when you’ll need to get in a professional to diagnose the problem. 6) Sometimes Windows in completely corrupt due to a life of downloading and installing and uninstalling over a period of time.. 7) The windows registry. When you start up Windows there’s a list of commands it runs through. The registry can get so bogged down with irrelevant or dead commands ( something that’s been uninstalled, but not from the registry ) that the computer slows down. Just like a car needs to be serviced – oil changed etc. a computer needs its registry cleaned and needs defragging at least every six months.. 8) Computers that run slow often only need a bit more memory in conjunction with a clean- up to make a big difference and speed it up.

Sweating Sickness
Jan 11th 2012, 14:37

Sweating sickness was a virulent disease which firstly struck England at the end of 15th and beginning of 16th century in series. The symptoms showed suddenly and dramatically and very often ended in few hours with death. The most mysterious thing about this disease is that the cause of it is still unknown. The first time sweating sickness appeared for the times of Henry VII. One of the first evidence goes back to August 22nd 1485, when it was spoken about it on Battle of Bosworth Field. 6 days after that it broke out in London, where it killed several thousands people in less than two months. The sweating sickness reached Ireland 7 years later in 1492 when the death of James Fleming was recorded. This sickness didn’t attack infants or children and anyone who made through the first 24 hours survived. After 1492 sweating sickness disappeared for 15 years and in 1507 it emerged again on the island. But the epidemic wasn’t as fatal as the first time. The sickness emerged again in 1517 when in some towns killed half of the whole population.. The most fatal time it emerged was the 4th in 1528, when it first appeared in London in May and it soon reached other parts of England with the exception of north. This time the sickness didn’t stay on the island. Soon it emerged in Hamburg and killed more than a thousand people in weeks. By the December it reached Switzerland and then towards the north to Denmark and Scandinavian countries. As fast as the sickness appeared it has also disappeared usually in 2 weeks. By the end of 1528 there were no more signs of the epidemic except in Switzerland. The cause of the sickness still remains a mystery..
