Barbados Duty Free Shopping Tips
Jan 15th 2012, 12:46

The beautiful country of Barbados offers so much from the pinkish sandy beaches to the deep dark blue waters of the Caribbean Sea. The tropical country also boasts of natural beauty like the vast wildlife and plant life inhabiting the island. Tourists can also enjoy the country’s festive music and scrumptious food. Last, but definitely not the least, the country is also known as “Little England” is famous for its duty free shopping district. So if you are looking for fine clothes, jewelries and accessories book already for a flight and apartment hotel, Barbados is an excellent shopping spot for bulk buyers. There are many places where you can spend your much earned cash in the tropical country. You can buy goods at the country’s capital, Bridgetown, or in the West Coast or South Coast of the island. Upon arriving in the country, you can already start shopping. The airport has a duty free center where you can start purchasing goods. Keep in mind that you will need to present your passport and details of your temporary address in the country to qualify for duty free prices. Remember that tobaccos and alcohols bought outside the airport and port will not be handed over the counter but instead will be delivered to the port of departure. You can collect it there when you leave the island. Now, let’s get ready to shop till you drop. First thing’s first, bring more than one credit card with you just in case you ran out of cash so paying will not be a hassle. Rent a large vehicle or SUV if you are bulk buying. I suggest renting the Suzuki Jimny rather the Toyota RAV4 since the Suzuki is more affordable. Saving cash on transportation can be added to your shopping budget. Also, choose a hotel near the shopping area you are planning to go to; in this way, you can save time from traveling and have more time looking for the best goods. Board Street in the country’s capital Bridgetown is the best place to shop for designer clothes and jewelries at discounted prices. You can find ornaments, fine figurines and crystals at sale price in shops like: The Royal Shop, Cave Shepherd or Little Switzerland. If you are looking for fine jewelries for your anniversary, birthday or wedding, there are branches of Colombian Emeralds and Diamonds International on Board Street. If you happen to be on the South Coast of the island, you can try visiting the Sheraton Centre where you can find designer clothes at low prices. If you are a surfer looking for surfing gear, the Lazy Days shop in the centre can provide you with all the surfing gear and accessories you need. Pure Source located at the West Coast of the country offers also designer clothes, if you are looking for exquisite beauty products this is where you should head to. They have beauty products coming from Paris and many of their items are quite scarce in US and London. There is a lot of high quality merchandise with duty-free price at “Little England.” If you are looking for a good shopping spot, book for a trip and an apartment hotel, Barbados will surely have everything you need.

Treatment for Acne Scars – 5 Dermatologic Acne Scars Treatments
Jan 15th 2012, 13:40

Acne itself can be frustrating. And the scars that they leave behind only worsen one’s already-disheartened soul. But thanks to the advanced technology that we have nowadays, the ugly scars brought about by acne can now be treated.

However, no matter how sophisticated dermatologic treatments are, absolute restoration of the skin cannot be assured most of the time. But it can actually enhance the appearance of the skin as best as possible.

There are various scar treatments available today. And to carefully decide what treatment is best for you, it is recommended to seek a professional dermatologist to help you choose the treatment according to your skin type, as well as your budget.

Some dermatologic treatments for acne scars include:

1. Laser Treatment

Lasers are available with different intensity and wavelength that are utilized accordingly to reform scar tissues. A vascular laser may be used for reducing the redness of acne scars. Layers of skin tissues may be removed to flatten scars with the use of a powerful carbon dioxide laser. Permanent results may sometimes be achieved with a single treatment only but redness may effect after a laser treatment, which will however fade away after a few months.

2. Collagen Injection

Collagen is a fibrous insoluble protein found in skin tissue that keeps skin elasticity and strength. This normal body substance is injected underneath the skin to raise sunken scars, by stretching and filling them out, to the level of surrounding skin. However, the effects of this treatment are only temporary, usually lasting three to six months, thus requiring supplementary injections at additional charge. It is also important to note that bovine collagen may cause allergic reactions to some individuals.

3. Dermabrasion

Dermabrasion is a procedure done under local anesthesia, which uses a wire brush or burr (also called fraise; a diamond wheel with rough edges) in removing the upper layers of the skin. The burr or brush rotates with high speed, taking off the destroyed layers and leveling the surface of the skin. Such process may injure or wound the skin, causing it to bleed. However, as the injuries and wounds heal, a fresh layer of skin develops to replace the removed damaged skin. Dermabrasion may result to pigmentation changes in darker-skinned individuals, which may require further treatment.

4. Autologous Fat Transfer/Micropilo injection

This is a procedure wherein fat from an individual’s own body is taken and injected under the skin to raise sunken scars. Autologous fat transfer or micropiloinjection oftentimes require to be regularly repeated as fat reabsorption in the skin usually takes an average period of six to eighteen months.

5. Skin Grafting

Skin grafting is a surgical technique wherein skin substitute or skin is positioned over a wound as a permanent replacement of missing or damaged skin or to temporarily provide a covering for the wound. This procedure may only be essential in certain cases, such as in the closure of unroofed or defective sinus tracts that are sometimes caused by Dermabrasion.

Acne scars are oftentimes hard to prevent. And when they appear, all you can do is to treat it promptly and appropriately. Scars caused by acne can be treated in several ways, one of which is the dermatologic treatment. However, always remember the importance of consulting a dermatologist first before undergoing any kind of treatment.

Antique Porcelain China – How to Spot the Genuine
Jan 15th 2012, 13:46

If you are looking for porcelain always go for antique porcelain china, china wares are the best deal you could have on porcelains. When it comes to porcelain a wide variety is always available in the market thus the only problem is choosing what best for you. China is well known genius in making pottery. There expertise made them famous for making porcelain chinaware. Most porcelain are even dated back from 11th century thus making it antique porcelain china which collectors and dealers are crazy about even households. Who can resist the beauty of antique porcelain china sets or antique porcelain china dinnerware? The answer is no one, not even the modern furniture fanatics. Most antiques we see today are from shipwrecks salvaged that dated back from Ming dynasty, Qing dynasty and Song dynasty. Some of these salvaged antique porcelain china sets are in still good condition and still have high value. Collectors always go for these antiques which normally found in shipwrecks. Before, porcelains are made especially for the emperor called Imperial kiln or peoples ware for ordinary people during the Yuan dynasty and the Min Yao. Imperial kiln is expensive than peoples ware the fact that it is made and only used by the emperor made it much of a higher value compared to others. If you buy antiques look for marks-like the “nian hao” for the imperial kiln though it is hard sometimes to identify if the item is genuine or not. Mostly fake ones have the lesser price; do not fall for the cheap price.

Why Play Bass Guitar?
Jan 15th 2012, 14:22

Let’s face it: most people don’t even know what a bass is. While the venerable six string guitar is admired and respected by millions, the bass guitar is somewhat less glamorous. After all, you’re not exactly standing out in the front, laying down hot licks and screaming solos. You’re not even pounding away by playing chords. You’re sitting in that sonic space below, forming the bridge between the drummer and the rest of the instrumentation.

Bassists are rarely the most popular members in their band. Overlooked by fans and critics alike, you might wonder why you should bother playing this seemingly unpopular instrument. After all, wasn’t the whole point of starting rock band to get more girls? Why play bass when you can get more attention elsewhere?

The truth is, if you’re really doing this for attention, don’t play bass. Everything you’ve heard is absolutely right. With few exceptions, bass players do not get the attention. However, they do get to have tons of fun.

Let me explain. I said earlier that the bass forms the bridge between the rhythm sections (usually the drums) and the rest of the music. As a result, you’re playing an absolutely critical role in a band. You form the beat, the pulse, the groove of the song. Without you, the band wouldn’t sound nearly as good. This is an awesome responsibility, and the satisfaction you can get from providing this hard to describe until you’ve experienced it.

As the “god of the groove”, you’ll be surprised at how much your playing manipulates the audience. Your bass lines will be what makes people move. There’s nothing quite as satisfying as looking at and seeing an entire crowd dancing and moving to the groove that you’re laying down. No guitarist ever had it this good.

On the more practical side, bassists are always in demand, assuming you’re skilled enough to lay down a rock solid groove. Since the more glamorous guitar draws more players, the supply of skilled bass players is much lower. This makes it easier to find a band that will be in need of your services. This is a nice perk, since you’ll almost always be able to find work if you’re good.

So, I hope this helps you see why playing the bass guitar can be such a rewarding experience. It doesn’t put you front stage and center, but once you see that crowd moving to your groove, you’ll realize that being in the spotlight is somewhat overrated.
